After loading the explosive into the boreholes it is essential the unloaded part of the blasthole to be closed with certain object or material which will enable better use of the energy released from the combustion of the explosive.

It is scientifically proven that using adequate product for plugging of the blasthole the effect of the blasting power of the explosive is 10-15% more effective.

Based on experimental data the length of the plug in the boreholes during the construction of the underground facilities is:

L_(p) = 10 x d          (m)

Where (d) is diameter of the borehole.

During underground excavation the length of the plug in the blasthole is:

L_(p) = (1-1.67) x W

where W is a line of lowest resistance.

The clay plug cartridge is loaded immediately after loading the explosive into the boreholes where firstly is pushed into the hole with wooden stick (miner’s stick) and with 2-3 pokes by the stick the plug is pack down to the required diameter filling the whole space in the borehole without the possibility of damaging the cables for initiation of the explosive (NONEL pipe or cables of electrical detonator).
